Support exploited migrants and families with flight tickets home where there is a need
Auckland
Adjusting to a new life in New Zealand is a difficult process for new settlers and migrants who face language barriers, exploitation, visa & employment issues and cultural differences. NFACT helps support refugees by providing resettlement services including one-on-one practical and counseling support, delivering workshops and programs to empower people with skills and information, and enable people to feel supported and in community.
NFACT is working to support a group of particularly marginalised people (including their families) who have experienced worker exploitation (Migrant Exploitation Protection Work Visa holders). As a result of exploitation by their previous employers, they have had to leave those jobs and many are still looking for suitable work. NFACT staff continue to help this group with immigration issues, employment matters, food bank support, upskilling through building CV and cover letters, workshops and English support, and counselling support. However, visa restrictions and a difficult job market has left people within this group in severe financial hardship. Many have no other option but to return to their home countries. The difficult reality is that they cannot afford flight tickets. We need your help - a contribution towards flight tickets for those in severe need and medical costs for those who need to access healthcare without the resources to do so would greatly help these migrants.
New Settlers Family and Community Trust (NFACT) provides flexible, culturally and linguistically appropriate services for former refugee and migrant families. This includes, as much as possible, services by refugees for refugees.
