Auckland

The Howick Historical Village is Auckland's living history museum. Nestled in park-like, heritage gardens, with nearly 40 historical heritage buildings, heritage gardens, thousands of collection items and archive from the period 1840 to 1910.

The Museum is a charity and was built by volunteers with the support of the community.

The Museum tells a unique story of early settler history with immersive Meet the Villager days where visitors can take part in traditional Victorian era activities and crafts. Education experiences for school children provide an engaging learning adventure. The Village includes a wide range of buildings including a forge, printing press, church, mill, school house as well as a variety of cottages and houses.

We require the support of the community to continue our work of preserving and protecting our local history. By making a donation, you will be helping us protect a unique part of New Zealand's heritage and ensure we can provide an outstanding education & experience to visitors.

Any donation you can give would be greatly appreciated, and will help us keep the Village running well into the future.

About us

Auckland’s Heritage Museum | Experience living history in Tāmaki Makaurau

Between 1847-1854, eleven ships brought the 2,500 Fencibles and their families, which nearly doubled the population of Auckland at that time. Other Fencible villages were at Panmure, Otahuhu, and Onehunga. All this history and more have been captured and brought to life at the Howick Historical Village with almost 40 historical buildings on 7.5 acres of land.

As an independent charity, we rely on the support of our visitors, community and volunteers to preserve our local history and culture. Donations are crucial in helping us with long-term conservation and development projects. Every dollar really does make a difference, and we thank you so much for your support.

Use of funds

The funds will be used to support the Museum operations, including maintenance of buildings and grounds, conservation of collections and archives and security of the Muesum.
