Raising funds to support the incredible 12 year old Embia Prendergast and her family as they kick cancers ass!
Hawke's Bay
Embia and her family had received the devastating news that Embia had a tumour that needed immediate treatment and would require chemotherapy. Embia and her mum, Alice, are currently up in Auckland in-between Starship and The Ronald McDonald House as Embia begins her first two rounds of chemotherapy. As well as the awesome medical team and the caring staff at The Ronald McDonald House, we can now also play our part to support this amazing family.
Mum Alice, a busy mother of 3, also works as a Learning Advisor at the Eastern Institute of Technology. She works incredibly hard to help students become more confident and competent learners, giving them every possible opportunity to be successful in their studies. Step dad, Jonny, is the Maitre De at one of the leading winery’s in Hawkes Bay and puts in some big hours to support his young family.
The funds raised will help to relieve some of the financial pressures that come with being away from home and unable to work. With Jonny still having to work and juggle the two younger children between family and friends, and Alice soon having to travel back and forwards from Auckland to be with Embia - costs will soon begin to escalate.
As a gesture, for both Embia and to those that contribute, I will be giving Embia the responsibility of shaving my head and providing some wax strips for those that wish to ‘get something back’ for their generous contributions.
Let’s all get together and support this beautiful family on their road to recovery.
I'm involved because I am Embia's class teacher. I wanted to help Embia and the family by relieving a small amount of the stress during Embia's recovery.
