Support a kiwi family as Kirby, mother of 4 battles an aggressive form of cervical cancer, ease the financial stress for a deserving family.

Otago

Read below to hear about a beautiful hard working family on the beginning of their journey against cervical cancer.

On the 8th of May 2017 Kirby went to her cervical smear, hearing back the next day with concerning results and was flown away to Christchurch for further testing within the next 48 hours. With Hubby Regan taking time off work to care for their 4 children, she arrived home on mothersday with news that she has a rare type of cervical cancer called Adenocarcinoma, which only 15% of people with cervical cancer have. It was bigger than 6cm and out of the womb and in the lymph nodes already, surgery isn't an option. She was pregnant with her youngest only 18 months earlier and nothing had shown then. This was an immediate shock for her family and close friends.

Immediately our beautiful health system and cancer society got her straight into chemotherapy and radiotherapy to try and beat this thing.

Please note this is one of the most hard working families I have ever met, always helping others, always working hard to provide a good life for their family and friends. Working long hours and still finding time to come help others in need. These are the kind of people that you know no matter what circumstances if you need help, they will be there.

Kirby and Regans love for each other is a beautiful thing, they have been married for years, yet they still look at each other with a twinkle in their eyes, they still kiss each other passionately, and care for each other in a way that is rare and so beautiful.

I couldn't think of a more deserving family for support through such a devastating circumstance.

So why will the donations help?

Well, they have 4 kids aged 1,3,5 and 11 and Regan has had to reduce his hours at work to help look after and care for them while kirby is having treatments and also when she is unwell at home and needs to rest. (this man made up for missing work today by starting a shift at 3am after 2 hours sleep!) This family need to not have to worry about paying the mortgage, bills, petrol, daycare, groceries etc so they can actually give kirby the care and help she needs, without Regan working himself into the ground.

He needs sleep too!

Allow this family to spend time together, to be able to heal, to lessen the pain that has been thrust upon them.

Kirby is only 1 week into treatment, and already feeling the negative side effects from the treatments and all the various medications she is taking, ones to stop her kidneys from failing another for nausea which may cause more problems resulting in more pills!

Kirby is very keen to try any natural medicine that may help her through this as well so some of the money will go toward those sorts of things, and pizza.... because when you are that tired and have 4 kids sometimes you have to pick your battles and cooking diner is one of them! ;)

If you want to support a hard working deserving family please donate!

I will update her journey as it progresses and answer any questions asked.

Thank you for reading and I hope you can support this cause, every dollar counts. xx

The Weir family's battle against cervical cancer's involvement (page creator)

I am involved because I am a close friend with this wonderful family, they have help my family through rough waters and been so generous and giving, due to my own health problems I am not as able to provide as much help as I would like to. But this is one way I can help, hoping to ease their financial stress.

Use of funds

Funds raised will be use to help cover living costs so that Regan can take time off work when needed to care for Kirby and their 4 children, for any health related costs incurred, and toward some natural remedies kirby would like to try to increase her strength and chances to kick cancers ass!
