7-year-old Aiden is a New Zealand Chess Federation representative competing in Singapore in June 2015
Wellington
Aiden Tyler Zhao, a 7 years old representative of New Zealand Chess Federation, will be representing New Zealand to go to Singapore for the 16th ASEAN Under 8 Years Old Age-group Chess Championship between 8th and 17th June 2015.
Aiden is trying to raise funds to travel to Singapore take part in this tournament.
Aiden has learned chess since 5 years old. Initially he attended chess class once a week, but now he is weekly coached one on one by Scott Wastney who has twice won the New Zealand Chess Championship and is an International Chess Federation (FIDE) trainer as well as an International Chess Federation (FIDE) master.
Aiden plays chess with adults at the Wellington Chess Club every week. He is the youngest chess player at the club currently.
Please help by supporting Aiden, this very young talented chess player who has huge potential.
The cost (self-funded) to take part in this tournament is very high. Also, Aiden is under 15 year old so must travel with a parent to Singapore.
Your generosity will help to pay for accommodation, entry fees and flight costs,.
My name is Aiden Tyler Zhao. I am a New Zealand born Chinese now 7 years old and my biggest interest is chess.
I have been interested in chess since I was 5 years old. I love to play with my friends, my brother and father. In the last couple of years, my parents encouraged me to attend chess class once a week and I was very much enjoyed it. Now, I have one-on-one training with Scott Wastney every week and play chess with the adults at the Wellington Chess Club. I wish I could have more opportunities to take part in more tournaments and compete with players at my age in the future.
