PhD student Bala tragically lost his wife Joy. We are raising funds to get him, his toddler girl and 4 year old boy to Africa to bury Joy.
Auckland
On Sunday 26 April, AUT Engineering PhD student Bala received tragic news: His young wife Joy had suffered a brain hemorrhage and was in a coma. The doctors at Grafton did all they could, including carrying out emergency surgery, but unfortunately she died on Wednesday 29 April.
Bala is left alone with a four year old son and a 10 month old daughter in a country which is not home, without the support of his family. The costs for Bala to repatriate his wife's body for burial in Nigeria, and transport the rest of them to and from the burial, are enormous.
Whilst grieving the sudden loss of his wife, Bala is not able to organize any meaningful financing in good time. Many New Zealanders will be able to empathize with the sudden loss of a young mother and the financial struggles most families and students experience. We ask for your financial support to help an Auckland family in great need. Any help is hugely appreciated.
