Aruna and Craig are a couple who have given so much to their community. Please join us in giving back to them, at this difficult time.
Wellington
On Sunday 10 May, Aruna and Craig's son Jayin suffered a stroke and was flown straight to Starship Hospital in Auckland. He has had many scans and major surgery, and he is soon to move to a rehabilitation clinic for up to three months on Auckland's North Shore.
Aruna is staying with Jayin in Auckland, and Craig and Kiran (their youngest son) fly between Wellington and Auckland regularly to be with them and support them.
As you can imagine, this is a terribly stressful and scary time for them all, and although some funding is available to them to support their travel and medical needs, we know that there will be many other expenses during the coming months. These may include childcare for Kiran (so Craig can continue normal working hours), in home support while Aruna is away, extra travel to and from Auckland and support for Jayin which may need to be privately funded in the future.
As many of you know, Aruna and Craig have given so much to our community, They were always there to help at kindy working bees, Aruna volunteers as a Spring Maths tutor at school to support our children who struggle, and she has been extremely active on the Papakowhai Home and School Committee since Jayin started school, just to name a few things.
Please give generously to this family who have given so much of their time and effort to our community, and help support them through the coming months.
We are friends and neighbours of Aruna and Craig and our children are friends, and have attended daycare and school with Jayin. We can't begin to imagine how difficult this must be for them, and as Aruna and Jayin are up in Auckland, we wanted to do something that would support them, and we know so many others do too. A givealittle page was one way we felt we could all help. - Sue Jenkins and Michelle McKee.
