Two of our children suffer from congerital heart dease & muscular myopathy. This has a great impact on daily lives.
Waikato
Our daughter who is 7 years old, & constantly suffers from chest pains. This impacts her ability to play as a active child would. She some times, wakes of a night with chest pains and shortness of breath. Her struggles with first start, when she was born 6 weeks premature. She spent 3 weeks in the new born unit at the Waikato hospital, connected to all sorts of machines.
Our eldest son who is 14 was miss diagnosed at the age of 18 months old of having Ceribal Palsy after years of physio a double ham string release and a muscle biopsy we have now been told he has muscular myopathy, of which there is no cure, he can not do what normal 14 years old do and finds it very frustrating, last week he was climbing a play ground like boys do fell and broke his humerus bone in a lot of pain and sent home with no pain relief from the Thames hospital he will be off school for a week. Over the years due to his illness and hospital visits he has had a lot of time off school and is now learning 1 year behind all his mates. Our kids are our world we moved to a small country town to give them a relaxed way of life and to try and help take their minds off their everyday struggles, due to the farming payout the job my husband moved for has now stopped and we are on a benefit however this does not cover the medical bills and cost to travel to and from the hospitals as we go to both Waikato and Starship.
