He’s home ❤️
27 March 2025Update from Alannah and family:
We are so grateful for everyone’s support and love over the last week, it’s been a bloody ride! On surgery day Roy’s surgeons assessed him and decided it would now be too risky to do more than removing the springs that were opening his skull up. The amount of bone that has grown since Decembers surgery wouldn’t tolerate the fracturing and the blood loss from that would be unsafe for his wee body.
We’re very very relieved and thankful his surgery went smoothly, and for the amazing care he received in Wellington Hospital. The nurses on the ward have also been amazing making sure Alannah has been taken care of too ❤️🩹❤️🩹
From here they’re going to let nature do its thing for 1-2yrs. This limbo is a bit daunting, but his safety and wellbeing is priority on this medical journey. For now, we can let him (and Alannah) recover! Roy Boy is back home now in Christchurch.
From Alannah about the donations:
I really really can’t think of the words to describe the impact this has and how overwhelmingly grateful we are for everyone’s support. It is such a huge relief. This will cover the costs of this trip, and gives me breathing room for when we return when he’s about 18m. It will also allow me to work on myself and get supportive treatments and therapies so I can hopefully lower my risk of anything cardiac happening again.
