Lets help Danny ease the financial burden over the toughest few months he may have ever faced
Auckland
Danny is more than a colleague and a friend, he is family. He will not ask for help so this is why I am setting up this page .Danny has been told by medical professionals he has approximately 4 – 6 months to live. Danny has been fighting cancer for the last 11 months. The cancer started in his jaw and has now spread to his lungs, lymph nodes, brain head and neck. The initial operation took 15 hours and was meant to take 3 months to recover. He was back to work in 6 weeks.
If you know Danny , you will know he has a fighting spirit and an unwavering determination. He underwent chemo and radiation after his operation and after each treatment he came into work, so he didn’t let his workmates down. I watched Danny suffer in silence. I have cried for him and I have cried with him. Danny decided to undergo a more aggressive chemo treatment which could have shrunk the cancer faster if it was successful but it was not funded in NZ. Each treatment was $7800.00. Unfortunately, after 4 treatments they found out it did not work. This put more financial pressure on the family when at a time they should have been spending it together .
If I could financially help my friend and his family I would in a heartbeat but I cant.
I have worked with Danny for 10 years and he has become a close friend. His sense of humour and sheer determination during this tough time have been inspiring to me personally despite his ongoing battle with cancer. He has become my family.
The money will go towards easing the financial burden of mortgage payments and living expenses over the next few months so Danny can spend time with family. Left over money will go to his grandchildren Zara and Cole's education.
