Helping Jade access specialist stroke rehabilitation as she works towards regaining her movement, independence, and quality of life.
Burwood, Christchurch
April 17th while leading a young horse between a couple of others, the horse in front of Jade kicked out, breaking her arm and wrist and dislocating her elbow before knocking her to the ground and causing a concussion.
Jade was admitted to hospital and waited for surgery on her arm. During the early hours of the following morning, she sadly suffered a stroke possibly caused by a dislodged vein in her neck. The stroke has left Jade with no use of the left side of her body.
Before the accident, Jade was outgoing and active, spending her days doing photography, working, competing and riding her horses, and surrounded by the animals she loved, including her beautiful dog Mandy.
Since the accident, Jade has not been able to return home or see her horses. One of the highlights of her week is when Mandy visits her in hospital, bringing a little piece of home and normality during an incredibly difficult time.
Jade is currently in a spinal and stroke hospital and faces a long road to recovery. Her goal is to attend an intensive stroke rehabilitation centre in Turkey, giving her the best possible chance of regaining movement, independence, and quality of life. The cost of treatment and travel is expected to exceed $50,000.
Every donation, no matter how big or small means the world. Its heartbreaking seeing my friend in this terrible situation.
You've got this Jade. If anyone has the determination, strength, and stubbornness to get up and walk again, it's you. ❤️
She is a very close friend. We have known each other for nearly 20 years
It will help support Jade's recovery, rehabilitation, and future, giving her the best possible chance of regaining her movement, independence, and the life she loves. But ultimately get her to turkey to access specialized stroke rehabilitation
