Supporting me to be with my mum through cancer treatment.

Hi, my name is Phillipa.

My mum has recently been diagnosed with lung cancer in both lungs and also lives with severe COPD. She has been advised that she will be starting radiation treatment in the coming weeks.

I am her only biological child, But I live away and am currently receiving Jobseeker Support with a medical certificate due to my own health. I am already struggling week to week to cover basic living costs, and I don’t have any savings.

I don’t currently have a car and don’t have the means to purchase one, which means driving to Christchurch isn’t an option for me. Because of this, flying is the only realistic way for me to be there for my mum during treatment, and it significantly increases the cost of travel.

I’ve created this Givealittle page to help me:

travel to be with my mum while she undergoes radiation treatment

support her practically and emotionally during this time

cover basic living costs while I’m there

quietly prepare for future costs, including setting aside a small amount toward eventual funeral expenses, so my mum doesn’t have to carry that stress herself
