Supporting Ockie, Yolandi and their two tamāhine/girls through a cancer battle, easing costs so they can focus on aroha and time together.

Kia ora koutou
We are setting up this Givealittle page to support Ockie, Yolandi, and their two young tamāhine/girls during an incredibly challenging time.
Ockie was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in April, and the illness is progressing aggressively. Alongside the emotional impact, this has placed significant strain on the whole whānau/family — particularly as they try to maintain stability, routine, and reassurance for their tamāhine/girls during a time of great āwangawanga/uncertainty.
This page has been created with the whānau/family’s permission by friends who want to help in a practical and meaningful way.
Funds raised will help with:
medical and treatment-related costs not fully covered (possible hyperbaric O2 therapy and/or alternative cancer care),
travel and accommodation for appointments,
loss of income and everyday household expenses,
and providing some financial breathing space so the tamāhine/girls can continue to feel supported and secure.
There is no obligation to donate — praying for this whānau/family, sharing this page, sending a message of encouragement, or keeping them in your thoughts is equally appreciated.
Ockie and Yolandi are navigating this with whakapono/faith, kaha/strength, aroha/love, and deep care for their tamāhine/girls. Any contribution, no matter the size, helps ease the financial pressure and allows them to focus on time together as a whānau/family.
Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and support.
Whakawhetai ki a koutou/With heartfelt thanks,

Funds will help cover alternative treatment costs, travel to appointments, lost income, and everyday household expenses, giving this whānau/family breathing space to focus on care, stability, and quality time together with their two young tamāhine/girls.
Targeted therapy (Ramucirumab) not covered by insurance 12 February 2026
We are so grateful for the continued love, prayers and support surrounding our family.
In my previous update, I shared that Ockie had started a new chemotherapy regimen together with a targeted therapy called Ramucirumab. He responded incredibly well. His side effects were minimal, his liver pain decreased significantly (at times completely gone), and his persistent cough stopped. Seeing him feel relief again has been such an answer to prayer.
Unfortunately, we have now been informed by Cancer Canopy Care that the two cycles of Ramucirumab (non-Pharmac funded) are not covered. The total cost for the two cycles is $15,055.80 ($7,527.90 per cycle).
This has been difficult news to process.
After much discussion and prayer, we have made the decision to pause the Ramucirumab treatment for now.
Thanks to the incredibly generous donations already raised, we are able to cover one cycle of the treatment already administered, and for that we are deeply thankful.
We want to sincerely thank every single person who has donated, prayed, sent messages, and supported us in any way. Your kindness is carrying us through this season more than you know.
We humbly ask that you please continue to keep Ockie in your prayers. Every donation, every message, and every prayer truly makes a difference.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Yolandi
