Supporting Rhodys Journey back to full health
Auckland
Rhody is 25 and unfortunately developed a disability when he was a young baby due to a severe reaction to a medication. After trialing more medications over his lifetime he is now stuck on one that is toxic to his liver but is life threatening to stop.
After seeking help in NZ to wean him off it we haven’t had any luck. A month ago after an attempted wean we almost lost him which meant doctors increased his dose again which means his liver and kidneys are at risk.
We researched clinics overseas and found a specialist rehabilitation clinic in Australia that have the right protocols to wean him off over an extended period to lower the risk of death.
All I wish for Rhody and his family after fighting for his life for 25 years is that he finally gets off this medication to live an as close to normal and peaceful life as possible.
Rhody is a beautiful gentle soul who affects everyone he meets with his unconditional love. He is learning to read and write. He’s learning to workout, be social with his brothers and is getting better daily at speaking and articulating himself.
One day we hope that Rhody will be able to live an independent life as an adult man and is able to find all the happiness he deserves.
We need to raise funds to support him and his family cover costs to get him to Australia so we can save him and also give his family the peace they deserve so they can see their son, grandson, brother and nephew flourish and live a happy fulfilling life.
We love you Rhody.
