    Week 8 update for Leuka Coffey. Thought we would do a update on Lukes time here in Burwood spinal unit. Overall he is doing great at working towards getting off the ventilator. Leuka has been weaning off it and his time increases every two days when he has been successful. At present he has progressed to 4 hrs twice a day he's able to use a speaking valve so we can hear him talk which has been so good, as he has plenty to say....Leuka says he is looking forward to getting over this hurdle, and into the gym to begin rehab. Thanks everyone who continues to send messages of love and support.

  • Leuka starts rehabilitation

    Update for Leuka Coffey a quick update for luke. Just over a week at Burwood spinal unit now and gradually settling in here. Leuka has a large team of rehabilitation staff keen to support him. On Monday leuka began the process of weaning off the ventilator and is doing well with this so far, small steps but he will get there. Leuka has an occupational therapist who has assisted him with some pretty cool technology where he can navigate the Internet and message friends hands free which is so very cool. Thanks everyone who sends us all messages and blessings of support it definitely helps and keeps us all going. A special thanks to my sister's Rachael Raikes and Vanessa Raikes for living at our house being tere for ethan, feeding animals, airport pick ups drop offs, without you girls us being here together supporting Luke just couldn't happen, thankyou for leaving your own homes to take care of ours we love you girls a whole bunch. But rach .... our amazing bed is a good deal right! Haha ??
