WHERE, WHY AND WHAT I WISH YOU TO HELP ME FUND: I'm involved because I founded Global Prosperity premised on global issues such as threats to biodiversity/environments including the plight of endangered and threatened species of which contribute to Pacific Island economies (tourism) but affiliated & woven strongly in Pacific Island cultures. I'm also involved because I'm Niuean and even our cultural knowledge/practices is threatened due to more of us born and residing away from our motherland. We must increase and carry on our knowledge of Niue's heritage and taoga starting with involving our young and developing engagement to connect with our respected elders. Empowerment to youth and their involvement/education of cultural resources/traditional knowledge & practices is pivotal to maintaining our culture. WHERE THE FUNDS WILL GO: This year and next I will be working with these amazing charitable groups to strengthen programs that engage our younger generation - with Youth in Niue as well as Environmental groups to develop (with your help) a school holiday program whereby traditional knowledge/practices/arts (cultural tours), sports, music, and environmental awareness and education are core components to make it appealing to our youth. Partnering with private sector and government also to help more kids confidently swim and equip various ages each with a mask and snorkel (estimated $3k) - allowing them to become more familiar with their marine environment, conservation of the environment, but have fun and build confidence and dreams at the same time! I also want to bring in talented Niuean/Pacific Island individuals to speak at schools or via e-portals and be a part of a dream leader campaign for our youth to help them visualise too, as I have done, that dreams do come true! As part of our Niuean future - we must ensure the long term survival of our culture and own natural resources - People & Our Environment/Taoga are an absolute priority. Fakaue Lahi!
