One of NZs legendary retired racing greyhounds and sires was viciously attacked this week when enjoying a walk with his dad.
Auckland
On Wednesday 1st Feb 2017, 9yr old Sammy was walking at a local reserve with his dad Lincoln, when a large dog broke free from his owners chain lead and violently attacked the gentle giant leaving him unable to move and forcing Lincoln to have to carry him 30 minutes to the aid of his wife and baby.
Sam has undergone emergency surgery and continues to be monitored closely at Waiuku Vets.
Lincoln and wife Natalie adopted Sammy knowing they wouldnt be able to insure him due to his age, but their love and devotion shines through as they do everything in their power to save their best friend.
The bill is still rising well into the thousands and as a close supportive community of greyhound owners, lovers, trainers and enthusiasts, we would like to show our support for this family.
'Get well soon Sammy!'
Thanks team,
Georgie
