Trans future and hope for less pain.

In December 2023, I had surgery to remove a tumour in my parotid gland, behind the jaw and ear. The surgery involved opening my face from the top of my ear to below it in my neck area. Unfortunately, I ended up having my ear moved and fluid buildup and tissue movement in my face, which I still have.

To understand myself and find my identity as a trans person, I experimented with different clothing, hairstyles, and makeup. However, I had to put any future plans on hold to receive medical treatment and undergo surgery on my face, which has been complicated by ongoing issues.

I need multiple injections and biopsies in my face and neck to manage pain, fluid buildup, facial sweating, and check for recurring problems. This has shifted my jaw, changed my face shape, and made it difficult to eat simple foods. In social situations, this can become embarrassing because it triggers my emotions due to the pain. Corrective surgery in my face will significantly improve this and also address other areas of my face.

I’m still no closer to having my face fixed or starting my transition. This is because the entire process is self-funded, and I can’t afford the necessary treatments. I feel like my journey has been taken away from me, not just because I can’t pay for the services I need, but also because I’ve spent so much time recovering and seeking additional treatments to alleviate pain and facial disfigurement. As of now, the only possible outcome is surgery.
