Talalelei Life Future Fund

This October, a young Aucklander holidaying at the Return to Paradise resort at Lefaga in Samoa found himself being swept out to sea by a rip. Our dear friend and husband, brother and son, Talalelei Vou, a porter, driver and Activities Leader at the Return to Paradise Resort as well as a trained lifeguard, swam out immediately with a lifebuoy to assist the guest in trouble.

While the young man’s life was saved, tragically Tala lost his life.

To make a lasting gesture in Tala’s memory, guests at the Resort have established the Talalelei Life Futures Fund. It will raise money to fund tertiary scholarships for students at the school in the Resort and in Tala’s village, allowing Tala’s generous spirit, love of young people and legacy to continue. The Fund will support the top female and male school students to attend university, providing an otherwise unattainable path to a better life for them and their communities.
