Please help me get to South Africa to help the future development of korfball around NZ, so everyone can enjoy this unique sport.
Canterbury
Korfball is a mix between basketball and netball and is one of the only sports that has both males and females playing with and against each other in a team. There are more than 60 national sporting bodies affiliated to the International Korfball Federation, which holds regular senior and age group tournaments.
For the first time ever, New Zealand has qualified for the International Korfball Federation World Championships being held in Durban, South Africa, in August 2019. This is a big accomplishment for us, as you can imagine, and I’m honoured to have been selected to represent NZ at this World Championships.
Being part of the first ever Korfball team to represent NZ at this level is a once in a lifetime opportunity where gaining this experience would be beneficial in the years to come for me and korfball in NZ. Being able to pass the knowledge and experience on to younger korfballers and even introducing the sport across New Zealand is something that I wish to do.
It has been hard for me to be able to get the funding needed to go away on this tournament as I’m a fulltime university student trying to get into vet school. It would be more than awesome if you could help me on my journey to this tournament. All these funds will help me get to South Africa and to the continuing of introducing this fun and unique sport across New Zealand, helping people find a sport they end up loving just as I did.
