Ex-Gloriavale family, The Tarawa’s, need our help to get into their own home.
Canterbury
Parents of ten, Miracle and Perry, were both raised in Gloriavale – the closed religious cult on the West Coast of the South Island . Miracle’s father is Neville Cooper – the man who founded and is still leader there .
They escaped six years ago because of control and the fact that their family were being ripped apart due to the strict rules community members are forced to live by.
In order to keep their beautiful family together, they made the huge decision to leave – despite the fact they both held key managing roles and worked for Gloriavale their whole lives and would walk away with nothing.
Although they’re happier than ever and are finally able to live by their own rules, they are doing it tough financially.
Perry and Miracle are hard workers and are now struggling in their own trade business as a result of large sums unpaid to them by debtors who have declared liquidation and now their dream of one day owning their own home isn’t going to happen without our help.
The bank won’t loan them money because they have no credit history or savings, let’s band together and help them put together a deposit! It would mean the world to them as they have moved nine times since leaving the commune six years ago and have never felt “at home” on the outside.
Still dedicated Christians, Miracle has helped many other families find their feet after escaping Gloriavale. This family is so deserving of their own home, they have been through the worst and I would love to see them fulfilling their dream of finally belonging somewhere.
