Tator-tot the shar pei puppy needs entropian surgery
Auckland
This year in January we were lucky enough to be able to be the new forever home for Tator-Tot the sharpei puppy after losing our 5yo sharpei last year in June.
When we brought Tator-tot home, he was a tiny 14kg 4month old with great big ears and clear eyes but as hes gotten bigger, so have his rolls!
While it makes for super soft snuggles it also means his rolls affect his eyes and causes his eye lids to fold in (entropian).
In April we took vets advice to tack his lids which we happily paid but after 2 months his stitches were removed and now his eyes are back to square one.
The vets have now recommended an entropian surgery that has been quoted to be between $6000-8000 depending on how big he gets but its a massive cost we hadnt anticipated.
We are a small family with a small business that just scrapes by at the best of times, so we are left feeling alot of guilt for taking on this puppy without comprehending this unexpected issue that is causing him discomfort.
Our final last ditch effort is to ask you, the community for any help. We will also share his story through That Weird Chick so that any donators can keep up to date with Tator and his surgery from start right through to recovery. If the target is met and not 100% consumed by the surgery, we will pay any remaining funds forward and provide receipts for costs.
Alternatively if there is anyone who has experienced this and knows of a cheaper alternative route we could look into that would also be appreciated as well.
funds raised will go towards Vet/specialist costs for entropian surgery
