To create a safe space for our Musical Theatre Students to be able to learn, rehearse and perform.
Waikato
We have recently moved into a new studio space and we are missing a safe floor for our students.
At the end of 2020 we moved into our new building, the timing wasn't the best after a year of Covid19 however we had out grown our studio space and needed something that would accommodate our students.
ACT2 is a visual and performing arts school where we offer performing arts, musical theatre and dance fusion classes for children aged 2 years through 18 years of age and we want to provide a safe floor for these classes to happen on as well as a space where we can rehearse for our Full Broadway Musical that the children perform at the end of each year.
Presently our floor is concrete but we are going to install a a sprung floor. A sprung floor is meant to reduce impact and is easier on our students’ joints. A sprung floor will ensure that the studio is safe to use not only for our students but for community groups including people with disabilities and older people.
For young people, taking part in the arts can help with major life challenges, in addition to this, it can also have a positive effect in reducing anxiety, stress and combatting depression. It can help to boost confidence and make them feel more engaged and resilient. Each year more and more children are being diagnosed with learning difficulties and mental health and we pride ourselves in offering a space where they are able to learn amongst their peers developing many life skills.
We are creating a space where groups can come together to participate in the arts.
