Bring our Taurea Va'a J16 boys to Hawai'i to compete at the IVF Va'a World Sprint Club Championships 2024!
Auckland
Taurea Va'a is a team of 16-year-old boys who have qualified to compete at the IVF Va'a World Sprint Club Championships 2024. We welcome any support to help our Taurea Va'a team to prepare, travel and compete in the championships at Hilo, Hawai'i in August 2024.
Taurea is Tahitian for 'youth'. Our youth are our next generation and the future of waka ama.
The team resides in Tāmaki Makaurau and represents Te Moana Nui a Kiwa.
The boys have been training for 2 years to qualify for this championship. They were successful in qualifying for the world championships at the 2024 Sprint Nationals in different races.
Their goal is to be world champions, represent Aotearoa and inspire young people to paddle waka.
With all of the hard work to get here, lifetime friendships have developed.
Taurea Va'a travel and compete in races across the North Island and train most days at Orakei and Takapuna. Waka Ama supports their mental and physical wellbeing, social cohesion, and is a pathway for their leadership development.
Be part of the wider team and support their journey to be world champions in 2024!
