    Kia ora friends and family,

It’s been 15 months since Joey’s 2nd surgery, the surgery you all financially helped us get through! Joey has graduated from all his post surgery therapy and finished his last hydrotherapy session today.

He’s made the most incredible progress with his physical abilities and movements these past 15 months and we couldn’t have done it without your aroha. There truly aren’t enough words for us to express just how grateful we are to have everyone’s generosity and support. We know Joey is only as strong as he is now because you all showed up for us in our time of need. Thank you, dakal a salámat, e mihi nui ki a koutou katoa. 💛🐕

  • Tears of joy for Joey 🥹

Joey and his first session of hydro physiotherapy overwhelmed me with joy. Watching him enjoy the water and walking with such grace and strength for someone who’s been thru the wringer and only 3 weeks post op! Hannah, his therapist, said he is doing remarkably well. Currently he is still relying heavily on his front paws but he is slowly learning to trust his back legs to bear his weight again. He was the cutest and the goodest boy.

He has 5 more session and because of your help he’s able to get the proper recovery support he needs. We really appreciate it. 🙏🏽🐾

    Kia ora,

Joey and I would like to share our progress! An exciting new chapter of healing has started for us, we he had his first big physiotherapy session yesterday. Joey was a very friendly and wriggly boy during his session but his physiotherapist says he is making great progress for a bub that is two weeks post op. Next steps are consistent Hydrotherapy to help build his hind leg muscles and tackle his muscle atrophy. Joey has never been able to enjoy walks or work on his walks-anxiety but hopefully after some water-treadmill moving, we can get him enjoying the world outside!

Thank you for being a part of this journey!

    Marianne and Joey 🐾

Ps. Here’s Joey styling his frothy dribble on the drive home from therapy!

  • Joey’s 2nd almost-surgery 🥲

Hi wonderful family, friends and supporters of Joey,

Today is his 2nd operation! I’ve been eager to update you all on how he goes today. We got him to the hospital, but unfortunately this boy has had a flare up of his skin condition (as you can kinda see) making his surgery-site inoperable as it could compromise his recovery with infections and complications. Not to fear, we have a new op-date once his skin condition has settled (in two weeks time). Slight set back, but we’ve been here before and we will get through it too!

    Ngā mihi,

    Marianne

Joey and I are super grateful to all of you who expressed your love, sent donations and words of support and awhi. It has been one hectic time and you have all helped us breathe a lot easier. Where to from here? Joey is having some issues with his first operated knee and we have a specialist consult this Wednesday to figure out what’s going on. Then we have surgery (hoping we are all on track) on April 26th. Right now we’re both taking it easy, having joined the limping crew with my broken toe as of yesterday. Terrible timing 😅 But overall, we are feeling loved, grateful and full of hope for Joey’s future and wellbeing. We can’t wait to share Joey’s progress with you all. Salamat! - Marianne (Joey’s Mama)

  • Wrapping up sooner than later 🐾

      28 March 2023

Being sprung with approx. $20,000 of unexpected medical expenses in less than 90 days has been, to say the least, insanely stressful. But thru all of that, Joey is currently recovering very well from his 1st op and we are amped for his 2nd surgery thanks to all you generos friends and family 💛

He’s regained his energy, getting more mobility with his newly operated left knee and quite frankly already back to his usual cheeky self. He’s sick of his cone, so every now and then, we give him a rest from it and it’s back on when he starts to lick his wound again... But we all can’t wait till all 4 legs are all well and pain free!

All your donation will be going towards Joey, his 2nd op, post-op care, prescriptions, rehab and his vet-finance loan.

“Because of your donations and the kindness you’ve shown us plus the loan Mama had to get for me, I am now guaranteed to afford my second knee surgery. Thanks heaps! *slobbery-kisses*” - Joey 🐕🐾

All putea will be covering Joey’s surgical bills, post op consults and the rest will support payment of his vet-finance loan for his 1st surgery and CT/radiography costs.

  • $2K of generosity = we are overwhelmed!

Wow, Joey and I are truly moved by the level of generosity you've shown us in such a short amount of time. It is mind-blowing. Good things happen with good people around and I am incredibly grateful for all of your kind hearts.

We incurred another $317 bill after his post-op surgical check up yesterday so truly every cent and dollar counts e te whānau. But the main thing is Joey is well, mending and recovering well from his 1st op.

With your donations we are $1K away from definitely covering his next surgery. Any putea we receive beyond that will go towards his post-op consults, meds and his vet-finance loan (for the CT and 1st op).

Again - THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH FOR YOUR KINDNESS. Dakal a samalat! We will keep you all posted xx
