Raise the Bar Hospitality Union is a group of hospo workers & legal advocates uniting to fight for the rights of hospitality workers.
Auckland
In 2018, hospitality worker Chloe Ann-King founded Raise the Bar as a digital grassroots campaign to improve work conditions in the hospitality sector. From there it blossomed into an advocacy group of hospitality workers & volunteer legal advocates dedicated to the mahi of protecting the rights of hospitality workers. In 2022, Raise the Bar Hospo Union was registered as a union & has huge ambitions of transforming the hospitality industry for the better by lifting working conditions & wages across the board.
Since RBHU was founded we have:
*Bought public media attention to the unsafe & often exploitative working conditions in our industry
*Since 2020 we have held over 25 employment bi-weekly zoom clinics where hospo workers can speak directly to our legal and advocacy team
*Pressured the government to do what's right by hospo workers including writing & submitting multiple government submissions
*Opened a Help Centre where workers can DM, call, & email us with questions
* Supported many of our members to take action against their employers who have underpaid & exploited them
We need your tautoko/support:
As a grassroots union we don’t have much cash to spend. To this point RBHU has relied on a volunteer team, small koha (donations), & Crowdfunding to continue our mahi. We need your tautoko to continue & expand the mahi we are doing in Aotearoa’s hospo industry.
This money will fund campaigns & our advocacy support systems, travel & admin costs, running our website, union meetings, & organiser stipends.
We cannot continue this mahi without the tautoko & solidarity of our community around Aotearoa.
