Fundraising for Tāwera Community Trust

We fought back and won! The council have agreed to return the Sheffield Memorial Swimming Pool back to the community and now we need your help to make this a reality for our small rural community.

Opened in 1953, The Sheffield Memorial Pool has been the heart and soul of the Sheffield, Waddington and Springfield communities for decades. This large pool with legendary diving board has taught hundreds of children to swim and continues to be a vital facility for this rural community.

With the district council assuming responsibility for the facility in 2016, the facility has steadily deteriorated through under investment and as a result the community is now receiving the facility in an 'as is, where is' state.

Members of the community joined forces and established the Tāwera Community Trust, the legal entity who will receive ownership, repair, operate and maintain the facility for the community into the future.

The trust is now seeking funding to help with associated set up costs, such as legal fees and a new key system along with funding to contribute towards our first year of operational costs. We've jumped through all the council hoops as work towards running a facility the community can be proud of once again.
