To support our tamariki & support crew on their journey to Te Mana Kuratahi National Kapahaka Competition in the Mighty Waikato!

Nelson / Tasman

Te Pītau Whakarei from Nelson Intermediate School are heading to Hamilton to represent Nelson in the Te Mana Kuratahi National Primary School Kapahaka competition and we need your support!

We have to raise enough for our large group of tamariki & their support crew for travel, accommodation, uniforms & food costs for the week duration of the competition.

This is such a great opportunity for our children & something they have all been & will be working really hard towards making this a trip to remember.

A lot of prep and commitment from all over the next few months in preparation is paramount.

So please support our tamariki to make this happen!

About us

Our Vision is Whaia te aratika - follow the right path, and is

represented by our target graphic centred by the kauri tree.

We recognise that tamariki come in to our school from many

different schools, whanau, cultures: "We come as many”. At

NIS we aim to equip them with skills and values. These are

autonomy, inquiring, resilient and skilled learners. These

skills sit alongside the values of Whanaungatanga

(relationships), Rangitiratanga (leadership), Manaakitanga

( w e l c om i n g a n d s u p p o r t i v e ) a n d Ka i t i a k i t a n g a

(guardianship). We capture this as “We grow as we

journey”. Finally “Whaia te aratika”. We aim to equip

students to be positive, contributing and worthy citizens.

The Intermediate years are critical in terms of a child’s

development and foundation for future years and we look

forward to working with whanau and our new learners

Use of funds

The funds will help our tamariki & support crew with the costs of travel, accommodation, food & uniforms during our week stay in Hamilton
