We are hoping to rally together to support this lovely whanau as they work with Ra on his road to full recovery!
Whitianga, Waikato
We are reaching out to rally support for an extraordinary young man Te Rahoroi (Ra) who has recently faced an unimaginable challenge. Whilst playing in a Basketball Tournament with his Senior Boys team he suffered an unfortunate spinal injury that has dramatically altered his life.
Now he needs our help to recover and rebuild his future.
Ra has been a cornerstone of our school basketball not only as a player when he was at school but as a coach for a few years – guiding his team to 2 premiership wins, he has dedicated countless hours to mentoring, inspiring, and supporting young ballers. With unwavering passion and enthusiasm, Ra has also helped shape not only sports skills but also the confidence, teamwork, and resilience of so many young players.
But now, the coach who has always been there for others finds themselves in need of our support.
Ra is currently in the spinal unit in Auckland and looks at a very long road to recovery. Ra’s Whanau live in Whitianga so over the coming months/years the additional costs for travel and accommodation to be close to Ra will escalate.
We do not know what costs lie ahead for Ra and his rehabilitation and how long this journey will be but would like to help to alleviate some stress to Trina (Ra’s Mum), Ra & whanau.
We hope that you can support Ra & Give a Little.
I am a long time family friend and work with sport at the local school and have had the whanau in my teams and coaching my teams and giving so much to the community over the years. Funds will be released to Ra's mum Trina
Help with travel and accommodation expenses for the family to be with Ra as much as possible as his recovery is expected to be long. Living in the Coromandel and having your son in hospital in Auckland is extremely hard on the family.
