A LIVING PLACE that connects communities with healthier holistic ways of being.

Nationwide

Teacher in the Paddock is a lifestyle project operated by Kevin Powell a primary teacher with a passion for animals and sustainable living, and Jane, a gardening guru who shares her wealth of knowledge about food, healthy diet and probiotic foods.

We have a passion for sharing our lifestyle and healthy living with our community and passing on our knowledge and skills so that your life and your health maybe the best they can.

From our home and lifestyle block in central Papamoa, Bay of Plenty we host community groups of all kinds and provide workshops and learning on probiotic foods and drinks including keffir water, kombucha, sourdough and sauerkraut and cheese making, fermenting vegetables and other life giving foods.

We host school groups, kindergarten children and early childhood centers, where they experience the wonder of milking our house cows, feeding chickens and learning about composting, worm farming and growing our food and enjoy having their morning tea in the haybarn. We have had a child ask 'why is the cow not blue'? In his understanding his milk came from a blue bottle top container so he thought the cow would be blue too. The children go away excited with a greater understanding of where their food comes from.

We are available to community groups for workshops tailored to your specific interests or needs. Perhaps you would like to gather a group of friends together on a weekday and learn how cheese is made, or how to ferment healthy probiotic vegetables, or use edible weeds in your salads or learn how to compost and worm farm for the benefit of your own gardens.

YOUR DONATIONS WILL BE USED to purchase feed and secure fencing for the animals, better fencing for our vegetable gardens, outdoor seating for visitors, and purchasing other animals such as a pig, a sheep and providing written resources for visitors to take away with them. Donations of any physical resources are most welcome. Please contact us on our Facebook page: TeacherinthePaddock.
