Supporting short statured athletes of New Zealand to attend the World Dwarf Games in Germany, July 2023
Nationwide
The World Dwarf Games are a sporting event held every four years in different international cities to promote the participation of people of short stature from around the world in sport. For many it is the only opportunity to participate in what they are best in at a level playing field. The last Games were held in Guelph, Canada in 2017 two athletes of which formed New Zealand’s first team to attend the games. This year, from the 28th of July to the 5th of August the Games are being held in Cologne, Germany. After a hiatus due to Covid this year is expected to be the most anticipated and bring the highest numbers the event has seen. New Zealand has five athletes that are training to attend.
The Little People’s Society of New Zealand (LPNZ) is supporting the team where it can but the event is predominantly funded by the athletes themselves. LPNZ hopes that these games inspire more members, youth and adults to participate in future events.
Little People of New Zealand supports and informs people with dwarfism as well as their families. LPNZ sets out to embrace, educate and create awareness in a responsive and professional way promoting flexibility and social change.
Funding made on this page will go towards the registration fees and uniforms for the athletes. If there is any surplus this will be held for the athletes attending the next games.
