Let's help Pete share another Christmas (or 10!) with his gorgeous family.
Auckland
A little over a year ago, we set up a page to generate donations for Pete Water’s unfunded cancer treatment. We all looked under our couch cushions, behind the chest of drawers, into our jeans pockets – and we gave Pete a good shot at his treatment.
We already know that Pete is an inspiring guy, who doesn’t take bad news lightly, won’t give up (can anyone say stubborn?), but more than that – he’s a bit of a bloody miracle. If you are making bets on anyone, it would have to be on him….
We’ve been battling this awful disease with him for a solid couple of years now, with varying degrees of timelines and potential outcomes – and he has blown them all away! And this is where we are at now:
Pete needs to get another $30k together to try a new treatment. He knows 2 things about this, that by doing nothing it doesn’t look good, but if he does SOMETHING… the sky could just well be the limit!
He isn’t going to accept a negative prognosis, and neither are we… so we are asking for help to pay for another unfunded immunotherapy drug levantinib, which is his last hope to extend his life. We raised $80k to pay for this last year and Pete also paid a further $60k for ongoing unfunded drugs at the same time. It’s his best chance…
Pete is a well-respected member of the Northcote Rugby community and a Northcote College old boy, a keen sailor at the Royal NZ Yacht Squadron, a well-known local business owner, a generous kind friend and above all, a dedicated and loved father to his young family - 2 sons aged 11 & 8, and a daughter aged 6 - and husband to wife, Alicia.
He has been told that in doing nothing, he may have as little as a month or two left, so we are determined to get him to the Christmas holidays and beyond.
We have asked before, and were stunned by the generous donations. We are asking again…
Please spread this far and wide so we can get Pete the treatment he deserves! We are asking for any generous donation towards Pete's care for the sake of his family. Everything is appreciated.
Much aroha,
Team Pete

All funds will be used for Pete's treatment and supporting his family through this challenging time.
Dear Beautiful People 5 January 2022
An update for you and most importantly my heartfelt thanks for your generosity and taking the time from your own lives to care for us. The money that you gave went towards Pete's oncology medication, until any further treatment was stopped four days before our beautiful Pete passed away, at home with us, on November 19th.
As Pete didn't finish this round of Oncology medication, there was Give a little money left over and I was able to put that on our mortgage and pay it all off!!
So as Buster, Moe, Frankie and myself wrap our heads around a future without our gorgeous Pete, we are very blessed with what your amazing generosity has given us.
Arohanui - Alicia Patane-Waters, Buster, Moe and Frankie
