Surgery is needed to remove metal implants from my knees following double knee realignment in August 2015.
Auckland
Hi everyone,
Here we go again!!!!!!
As many are aware, in August last year, i had to self fund a double knee surgery to reassign my tibia bones. This surgery went great, and was very successful! I fought my way back to make it onto the softball field, and be able to compete at a high level again.
Some could say the surgery was too successful! The screws that were used to hold my bones in place while they healed, are now been rejected as they are not needed anymore. This has resulted in ongoing pain, issues, and mobility problems. Surgeon says they have to be removed to stop further problems, pain and risk of infection - which means i am going back for another round of double knee surgery.
This news to me is absolutely devastating, but to know that once it is done, i will be nearly pain free. I will not dread climbing stairs, be able to run for myself at softball, stop being frustrated sitting at a desk or cringe while getting in and out of a car. I will be able to enjoy life, enjoy softball, and enjoy work (well, maybe not work!) again.
Just like the previous surgery, my insurance policy will not help due to pre existing condition, and ACC has declined due to the surgery not resulting from injury.
Surgery is booked for May 4th, and the bill is $5275.
Following last years surgery bill, not working during recovery time etc, i can not financially manage this surgery on my own. I am asking for help. Anything that you can do to help support me this round, will be really appreciated.
Nothing is too big, or too small.
Thank you for anything you can contribute!
