Helping parents and caregivers feel seen, supported and less alone during some of life’s hardest moments.
Christchurch, Canterbury
Your child has been rushed to hospital. You arrived with little warning, no overnight bag, no toothbrush, and no idea whether you’ll be there for six hours or six weeks. Your world has suddenly narrowed to a hospital room, unfamiliar medical language and one overwhelming thought: is my child going to be okay?
Then a nurse places a care package in your hands.
Inside are practical essentials you didn’t have time to pack, something to eat and drink, a few small comforts, and a handwritten message from someone you have never met.
None of it can change what you’re going through. But it can make an incredibly difficult moment a little easier. It says: we see you, we know this is hard, and you are not alone.
For 10 years, One Mother to Another has been delivering these moments of care. More than 45,000 care packages have reached parents and caregivers with a baby or child in hospital, and mothers experiencing perinatal mental distress, during some of their most vulnerable days.
But there is always another parent arriving at hospital unexpectedly, another family facing uncertainty, another mother who needs to know that someone cares. Your donation will help us deliver the next care package and remind someone, on one of their hardest days, that they are not alone.
Through the simple act of gift giving, One Mother to Another supports parents and whānau with a hospitalised baby or child, as well as mothers facing their own mental health challenges.
Creating and delivering care packages filled with practical essentials and emotional support for parents and caregivers during some of their hardest days.
