Help my father live his final months without financial stress

Rolleston, Canterbury

On January 29th our whole world changed,

My father Wayne Fitzgibbon also known to his friends as Sam, was taken to the ER with what we thought was a stroke.

Scans showed one tumour and on February 10th dad went in for a standard biopsy, they told us they would take a biopsy and remove the tumour if it was safe to do so and he would be home 3-4 days later. He woke up from surgery paralysed on his left side. He has started to regain some small movements in his left arm and hand but still no movement in his leg which could be permanent.

We later found out the original scan showed two tumours not one which the surgeons neglected to tell us.

If dad knew there was more than one tumour he would not have had the surgery which means he would still be walking and be home.

On his birthday 20th of February we were informed that he has a stage four brain tumour with 6-12 months to live.

He wishes to get home to spend his final months with close family and friends

Our goal is to try and take the financial pressure of our parents as Sam has always been a hard worker, we would like mum and dad to spend as much time together as possible without worrying about financial repercussions.

We appreciate everyone’s support during this time.

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
