Handcycle to compete in the K2 Cycle Race around the Coromandel

$4,063 of $10,000 goal
Given by 35 generous donors in around 3 months

I am a Tetraplegic who wants to compete in the K2 Cycle race around the Coromandel next year.

Waikato

I wish to compete in the K2 Cycle Race in the Coromandel next year. I have been looking at purchasing a hand cycle to start training. But they are in excess of $10,000. I had an accident in July 2014 which has left me a tetraplegic. I woke from my comma and one of the first things I said is that I need to do the K2 Cycle Race. I have never been a person that has gone out for long cycle races or trained on a bike. I have spoken to the organisers of the K2 and they are amazedly what I want to achieve

But I do have the attitude that I can do anything. So if you can help make my dream come true I would be so grateful.

Bike sitting in Cambridge  21 December 2016

Getting so close to getting the bike up here. It has been delivered to Cambridge and I can pick it up when I finish paying for it. So looking forward to it. Have had a meeting with the K2 Trust Board last week. They are so happy and excited that I am going to attempt this race. So once I start training you will be able to follow my progress on Castle Rock cafe Facebook or the K2 Facebook. To everyone so far Thank You so much. With out you I would not be able to achieve this dream.

Great to meet you at the cafe today. We are in awe of your 'positive attitude' about life and wish you all the very best with your adventures. We think your wife must be 'one out of the bag' on meeting her. How scary to wake up one day to your massive changes. We are thrilled you are making the most of your life!
