We have taken Thames Coromandel Council to court for its lack of action on climate change. Please contribute to our legal fund.

Hauraki Coromandel Climate Action has taken the Thames Coromandel Council to the High Court over its decision to NOT sign the climate change declaration. The declaration commits those signing to local climate action plans and emission reductions. 90% of other mayors and chairs have signed the declaration.

Our ground-breaking legal case says the council failed to properly consider the science of human-caused climate change, its own policies, and the relevant law. Our group is seeking to have the decision declared unlawful and an order that it be quashed. Local councils and other agencies must be held to account for failing to act on the climate crisis.

Please donate to our legal fund and help us win this important climate case.

Use of funds

The priority for funds is to pay court filing fees and other out of pocket expenses associated with the legal case.

It's pathetic and despicable that our so called leaders deny or minimise the climate crisis. Hold them to account!
