Kia ora team, WE DID IT! Thank you for being a believer and a helper, I am humbled by your support. I had some great feedback, including a stranger who sought us out and reached out to say they got a lump in their throat and thank you for our support. I still believe that they are more deserving recipients of our thanks and aroha.

Attached is a photo of the banner in flight - it's good quality so you can zoom in and read the words. If you'd like a copy please send me a message via givealittle! Photo credit goes to my brother, Evan Thomas, who was dedicated enough to sit on a hill waiting for a good shot.

We are in strange and uncomfortable times, so today I am remembering the words of Mr Rogers, who repeated the wise words of his mother and said that in times of crisis, look for the helpers. You are one of the helpers. I am honoured to have your company. Thank you.

  • We fly Saturday, 20 November!

      19 November 2021

I'm thrilled to announce that Air Bubble and I have decided to press ahead even though we haven't quite met the target. I've done some external fundraising to contribute to this project (Thanks to Libre Palmerston North and my colleagues for willingly partaking in my bake sale!). It's still about $600 short so late contributions are welcome.

The banner flies tomorrow through the skies of Auckland from 1pm - so tell your friends and family in the city to keep their eyes out for it!

If you've only just found this page and would still contribute, you are very welcome to help out! The fundraiser continues until midnight, Sunday 21st and I'd like to reiterate that all funds raised go to time in the air.

THANK YOU for helping out and being a kind-hearted kiwi! And...

THANK YOU to our Auckland-based whānau for helping us out with 3 extra months to get our act together and get vaccinated. You did good team. Thank you.

(Bonus Youtube clip of how aerial banner planes take off. I'm glad normal passenger flights aren't like that!)

  • Poor weather looms

      12 November 2021

    Hi lovely donors,

We had hoped to fly the banner tomorrow, 12 November, which is World Kindness Day. Unfortunately the weather this weekend is looking dodgy - 99% chance of rain tomorrow and 90% Sunday is a wee bit of a hinderance!

Adam at Air Bubble Advertising and I are eyeing up Saturday 20th as an alternative (good weather pending). This means Adam can get a feel for how people are moving around and to plan a suitable flight path. It also means we have more time to raise some more funds!

If you can help by telling your friends and family about the idea and encouraging them to contribute, that would be amazing! If you feel this way, your friends and family will probably be open to it as well. So - tell everyone! And feel free to email me here and I can send you a poster to display at work or in your favourite cafe :)

    Aroha mai, aroha atu

  • Thank you!

      8 November 2021

Kia ora friends, THANK YOU for contributing to help this banner fly! It's amazing to find there are like-minded kiwis out there who want to support one another.

If you haven't shared with friends or whanau, please consider telling them about this. If you feel this way, chances are they do too and also want to lend a hand.

    Thank you
