We want to stop the bystander effect!!! Help Sophies Angels become a charity so we can help the rest of the community.

Wellington

Sophies Angels has operated for two years as a female-focused passenger service with safety as our biggest priority. We are now going for charity status!

One year in, we introduced the angel system to/in Wellington bars. These bars include Dakota bar, Mish Mosh, Ivy, The Fat Angel, Rogue & Vagabond + 12 more. Bar patrons can ask for an 'angel shot' - a code word that lets staff know that the patron is feeling uncomfortable. If the situation is out of bar staffs' hands but it's not necessary to call emergency services, then they can call Sophie's Angels for a free ride (called an Angel ride) home for that Patron.

This year, Sophies Angels has become "The passenger service that cares!" We welcome the LGBTQIA+ community, all genders, and all ages to use the passenger service. We cater towards school pick-ups or post-partiers - basically, anyone who needs a safe, reliable and affordable passenger service. We never surcharge too!

Sophies Angels have opened up the angel system to the wider public where anyone can call Sophie's Angels to get an 'angel ride' (free emergency ride) for an at-risk member of the public. A few examples of angel-ride qualifying situations are someone passed out on the street with no one around to help, someone who has just been mugged, a senior citizen in need of assistance. Our website has a full range of situations that would that qualify for an 'Angel ride.' Link.

In some cases, we pick up an at-risk member of the public who has been drinking and is unable to remember their address; thus we are unable to give them a ride home. In this case, we have emergency lodging set up at our headquarters. This way they can spend the night to sober up and be taken home in the morning. All services under this angel system are free, and no charges given to the customer. Sophie's Angels pay for this all out of the company's profits, and sometimes even out of Sophie's pocket when needed.

This year Sophie's Angels plan to assist emergency services such as ambulance and Police with angel rides as an alternative option, preventing their resources being spread thin on unnecessary call outs. Sophies Angels has no external funding for assisting emergency services but volunteer time from some of the most dedicated staff and advice from the community itself.

Please feel free to contact us any time, we run 24/7. If you require a ride or an emergency angel ride please call or text 022 649 1439.

If you would like to make an enquiry, give us feedback or apply for a job please email helpdesk@sophiesangels.org
