Marek’s battle against Cancer to fulfil his dream to return to New Zealand

Auckland

In August 2018 Marek was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. At age 37, fit, healthy, and strong Marek was now faced with the biggest challenge of his life. Beating Cancer.

In March 2019 after completing 6 months of treatment the lymphoma returned.

Passionate about life, Marek has a busy mind full of ideas and visions. He participated in many sports. CrossFit, Fitness Paddle Boarding, Wrestling, Power lifting and the gym have all been a huge part of Marek’s life. He has gone out of his way to help many people who have crossed his path, generously sharing his knowledge of fitness and health with an enthusiastic and inspiring manner. He has a love for nature the outdoors and all that New Zealand has to offer.

Marek was forced to leave beautiful Queenstown and return to his home country Czech Republic to seek treatment right away. After 6 months of ABVD Chemotherapy and Radiation therapy Marek went into remission only to find a few weeks later the cancer had returned to a new area of his body.

Marek is now faced with another 6 months of more aggressive treatment. ICE Chemotherapy, followed by Stem cell autologous therapy, combined with high dose chemotherapy and then finishing with Immunotherapy. Unable to work nor receive any finical help in Czech because he has been working in New Zealand for so long Marek has been living off his savings and will continue to do so for the remainder of his treatment till, he is well enough to find employment.

Dude, we miss you here, you are always in our thoughts and we belive you made the best decision to head home for treatment. I heard the NZ Chicken breeders association has recovered from your time here and have opened a new farm to allow for the "Marek Effect" on your return. Some of us Kiwis live very sheltered lives with no travel, and no contact with Europe... my family links are to poland and Germany, and knowing you has been my greatest education about my links to my families past... thankyou for sharing. Thankyou Marek KIA KAHA
