The reason for us doing the page is because Janine is so selfless and would never ask or expect help.
Waikato
January 18th 2018, Mike was going about his work and had just finished milking the cows when tragedy struck. Fast forward a few hours, Mike ended up in the Waikato Hospital HDU (High Dependency Unit). After many operations, procedures and infections, Mike is still very much a patient.
After nearly 70 days in hospital, getting Mike home to his wife, family and dog will help enhance his recovery, as he will be surrounded by his loved ones and in a homely, loving and supportive environment. This event has taken its toll on Mike and Janine and we want to support and provide any assistance that we can.
There is no sickness benefit, no ACC, no unemployment allowance; just Janine’s minimum wage.
Having Mike back at home means that Janine doesn’t have to spend $40 a day on petrol and can dedicate more of her time to Mike. His healing process will improve at home. Mike will get into more of a routine and Janine won’t have to fit in a three hour visit with her work roster. Janine will be able to wake up to Mike in their home, instead of him waking up alone in a hospital ward.
Mike and Janine are genuine Kiwis who would offer up their home or shirt off their back. They deserve a happy and long fulfilling life together.
We as a family want to support Janine and Mike with his rehab and return home. It’s been a bumpy ride and we are ready to have him back with his family.
The money will be used to convert the bathroom into a wet room and also to provide mobility for Mike to move around the house. There is only one source of income so the money would go towards to paying off their morgage.
