Jono and Nikki were struck with significant health events at almost the same time leaving them unable to pay associate therapy costs & bills
Rakaia, Canterbury
Jonathan Ching and Nikki Macpherson are a couple who met in 2008, got married in 2009, and have built a loving blended family together.
Jono works as a production manager in Burnham, while Nikki's job involves supplying lifts, elevators, and stairlifts for a vertical access solutions company. Nikki's work focuses on serving the publicly funded landscape in New Zealand.
In 2020, Nikki received a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis, which inspired the couple to embrace life wholeheartedly. BUT, life took another unexpected turn in 2023 when Jono discovered a blood clot after a bathroom visit. He was diagnosed with colerectal cancer at age 45. A 4 cm cancerous mass and nine polyps were removed.
While this was happening, Nikki had also fallen ill leading to her hospitalisation and subsequent diagnosis of Autoimmune Limbic Encephalitis.
Jono has now gone home to recover, but Nikki faces at least 6 months off work and is facing months working with various occupational therapists and physios. The loss of income and travel costs are already adding up.
Nikki keeps expressing concern about the recession, believing that it's not appropriate to ask people for money. But just for a moment; imagine a world where $1 can change an outcome. Please donate $1 dollar and then inspire your friends to do the same, #donate$1#toJonny&Nikki and shared Jono and Nikki's Give-A-Little campaign far and wide.
The money raised will help Jono and Nikki to pay their bills while they are unable to work for a period of time while they recover.
