michael's brave battle with leukeamia
Canterbury
On 9 Dec 2022 Michael our son was diagnosed with Acute lymphoblastic Leukeamia(ALL).
Michael never had the easiest journey in his life but he always take what life throws at his and keep going, enjoying life the best he can.
He was born early on 31 weeks diagnosed with Down syndrome, while in NICU he contracted meningitis and this added Cerebral palsy to his diagnosis.
The dude is 14yrs old now, he is non-verbal and a wheelchair user. He is the bravest boy I know. Through all the pokes and prods, hospital visits and hospital stays he still finds moments to smile or have a laugh with someone. He loves going to school hanging with his mates and teachers. He loves bowling, swimming and going the movies. He joins the family on running events and love being pushed in his buggy. He enjoys going on road trips and exploring new places.
During chemotherapy he cannot do some of the things he loves doing, like going to school or socialise with friends. He has low immunity he can get sick very quickly. So we have to do his life a bit differently, do adventures a bit differently so the he can still have a good quality of life and lots of fun and doing things he loves.
His treatment plan is a long one he still have to get chemotherapy until February 2025. Cancer has stolen a lot from his life at the moment. So on the days he feel well we want him to have fun and adventures in his new normal and keep smiling and feel positive to keep fighting against his cancer(ALL) and win his battle.
The funds will go towards helping Michael live his best life while having chemo, doing short road trips see new places, upgrading his running buggy, getting a indoor swing, help with the family finances for time off work and petrol for all hospital visits.
Thank you for thinking of us and thanks for the support 🌻🌻
