Clean Drinking Water to those who need it most.

Help give kids in Lesotho access to Clean Drinking Water through providing them with water filters.

Auckland

Hi, my name is Wian Redelinghuys and this year I decided I want to take my life in a whole new direction by starting a charity called Clean Water Connection, after finding out how many kids still die World wide from something as simple as Diarrhoea.

There is on average around 480 000 deaths a year from Diarrhoea of which most of these deaths are children under the age of five, with the leading cause coming from water born deceases like Cholera and Typhoid.

In Lesotho 8% of kids die before the age of 5 from Diarrhoea.

This all can be prevented by implementing water filters to these hard to reach places where finding water is a daily struggle. All the funds raised through this campaign will go towards buying and implementing water Filters in the Lesotho Mountains. Also help to launch Clean Water Connection and make sure the money you donated does not just help one small area, but form the basis of an organisation that can keep making an impact in the future.

Clean Water Connection has been registered as a New Zealand Charity and is awaiting certification from Charity Services New Zealand, if all goes well this should come through early 2020. However I don't see a reason to wait for the approval to start making the difference and spreading the word.

The reason I chose Lesotho for the first Expedition is personal. I have spent many years in the Lesotho Mountains training and racing motorbikes before I moving to beautiful New Zealand. I have fallen in love with the Lesotho people and their way of life, but I also know what a huge problem clean drinking water could be in this country. I have experienced first hand how easy it is to get Diarrhoea from the water in Lesotho. For me it meant a hospital visit, for most kids in Lesotho it means much more.

Ways to help us make a difference:

1) Donate, Every cent helps!

Every Water filter costs us $60 and could provide a community of 100 people with clean water for 5 years. ( I'm serious when I say every dollar makes a huge difference)

2) Share this on your social media with your friends.

All of us don't always have a few extra dollars lying around especially this time of year, but we can have a impact by sharing.

3) If you know of any companies that would like to get involved with a grassroots non-profit like Clean Water Connection, please get in touch.

Best Wishes
