Raising funds in honour of a special man, to provide financial assistance to music students.
Auckland
Graham (Gumby) Allen was a lovely, kind generous man who lost his battle to cancer, in 2012. We, his family and friends, would like to have a living 'memorial' to him and have created a music scholarship/prize for students of light opera and/or Gilbert and Sullivan etc. - genres he particularly loved.
Funds raised will go to help support a student of music who might be experiencing some financial hardship in pursuing their chosen path. As well as being able to remember Gumby, we can do what he did best and put a smile on someone's face.
We do this by supporting the Graham Allen Prize in Musical Theatre which is competed for on an annual basis by students at the University of Auckland. It is the first Award of its type. In 2018 we will celebrate the fifth event - on October 13th. Everyone welcome!
Raising money in memory of my late husband.
Financial support for university students studying music. Proceeds will all be awarded to students who are finalists in a musical theatre competition. The funds go towards their studying such as helping to pay tuition fees, audition costs and so on.
