Evacuated from their life on Ambae Island Vanuatu, the extended family of Moses Taris are needing to rebuild from the ground up.
International
The family have had to leave behind their livelihood, which include market gardens and livestock. The large extended family has also been separated and are on separate islands. Some in Santo and some in Maewo. Everyone needs to begin again. There is no insurance here for them to claim. There will be foreign aid, but little guarantee Moses's family will benefit directly from this.
After the first and temporary evacuation in September 2017, the family had the foresight to purchase land on the island of Santo.
Now, with the permanent resettlement in Santo, they need to build cyclone proof accommodation. They have the manpower to do the labour but no funds to buy the materials.
The building will be for sleeping only. Cooking and eating areas are outside as are the bathrooms, toilets and living areas.
Moses has given me details of the building plan, quotes for materials, shipping costs etc.
The total amount needed is close to NZ$13,000 or US$9,000.
Please can you donate?
Moses has been working for us in Vanuatu. His extended family were evacuated from Ambae Island 2018, and are needing to build accommodation for their new life in Santo Vanuatu
Funds will used for building materials for 5 sleeping rooms and for a water tank. The structures need to be cyclone proof.
