The Magic Fund: Supporting Nelson’s Favourite Medical Centre Mascot

The Story

If you’ve visited the Medical and Injury Centre on Waimea Road, you’ve likely been greeted by a very specific member of our team. She doesn't wear a stethoscope, but she’s arguably our most popular staff member: Magic the Cat.

Since "adopting" us in 2020, Magic has become much more than a resident feline. She is a source of calm for anxious patients, a professional chair-warmer, and the true "boss" of the reception desk.

Why we are launching the Magic Fund

As Magic enters her "Golden Years" (she’s now around 15 years old!), her needs are changing. To ensure her care remains sustainable and of the highest quality without impacting our clinic's medical resources, we are inviting our community to become Magic’s official "Patrons."

This page isn't just about cat biscuits; it’s about ensuring Magic has a dignified, comfortable, and healthy retirement.

Transparency & Legacy

• Management: This fund is managed by the MIC administration team.

• The Safety Net: The Medical and Injury Centre remains committed to Magic’s welfare; this fund simply allows the community to enhance her care.

• The "Pay it Forward" Clause: Should Magic pass away with funds remaining in her account, 100% of the surplus will be donated to the Nelson SPCA to help other senior animals find their "Magic" ending.
