Raising some money so the shed can get a wee spruce up.

Otago

From one wee conversation with my sister....

The story of the how the wee Sharing Shed came about.

A conversation of something similar that happens in Christchurch and then this idea was born in July 2016.

It started out on 6th December 2016 with a sign and 6 tomato plants.

December 18th a free shed was found and started to be done up, it went out to where it now is in Hawea Flat and open for donations on January 13th 2017.

The idea was to swap, share produce only, as it was a bumper season but soon the community donated pretty much anything and everything.

It also out grew it self three times, and got extended and even now people ask for it to be bigger but the response is a clear no!

It is now I believe a community Shed, it has helped so many people out within Hawea Flat, Hawea and Wanaka as well as lots of different places in New Zealand and overseas.

Donations are very varied -seedlings, produce, unwanted clothes, books anything that people have finished with and wish to now pass on for free and don't want anything in return. Actually you name it and it probably has been donated. Share and take what you want or need! The only thing that is asked is to use it with respect all the expectations are explained on the door.

The whole philosophy of the shed was for people using it never to have to pay, or give money, we had a koha container for a wee bit to pay for rubbish bags but it went when we got wheelie bins.

From one wee idea and one wee shed it has supported so many.

So now it's your turn to support the wee shed, with all this rain we have had, the grass area outside the Shed often turns into a small lake and then a big mud puddle. To help stop this my husband and I have bought gravel, so to make an area for people to park that can be used in all seasons, we would like to raise some money to cover costs.

Thank you

Use of funds

The money raised will be to reimburse Dean and myself back to the gravel the grass area outside the Sharing Shed to stop the mud puddles.
