The Sue Heath 'I Believe I Can Fly' fund

$10,095 of $10,000 goal
Given by 67 generous donors in over a year

Retiring after 21 years as principal, Sue's final act (in this job) is to go skyward and raise funds for our Grandview hall project .

Otago

After 21 years at Hawea Flat School, encouraging children to believe they can fly amongst other things, our much loved principal and educator extraordinaire Sue Heath is heading off to a well deserved retirement. To acknowledge her huge contribution to our community, we wish to farewell her with style, maximum impact and a skydive .

After checking her insurance policy and getting permission from her husband (she’ll deal with him later!), she has agreed that it DOES make sense to jump from a perfectly good plane at 15,000 feet above the splendor of our back yard. According to the marketing hype, she’ll be strapped to a beautiful stranger, and we’ve had to assume here - there will be a parachute involved!!!.

All of this fun and frivolity is in aid of a good cause - our school has quadrupled (and then some) in size during those 21 fabulous years and the Hawea Flat School community have been fundraising for a number of years to raise the full and quite large amount required to expand our Grandview hall and community space, to meet the needs of the current school ...well, to fit us all in really!

Sue is hoping this final act on behalf of her beloved Hawea Flat School does not go in vain and can help raise at least $10,000 towards the Grandview extension. In fact, she only agrees to jumping out of that plane if we reach our target amount!!! So please feel free to donate to the Sue Heath ‘I Believe I Can Fly’ fund and we send you our sincere thanks for your support.

Many thanks also to the folks at Skydive Wanaka for offering the plane, beautiful stranger and parachute, carefully packed by Jeremy.

About us

Hawea Flat School is a friendly and big hearted primary school, 15 minutes from Wanaka. A place where everyone gets to be the best they can be and the school pet lamb has free range. We currently have a roll of 230 children, but this number has increased dramatically for a number of years now due to the huge growth in the Central Otago region.

Use of funds

Due to this large and on-going increase in our school roll, the Hawea Flat School community is raising funds to cover the full amount required for a much needed extension of our school hall and community space. All money donated will go to this project.
