WYT Youth Centre

Our youth centre currently is a space where we provide a safe person to talk to and a safe place to be for those that need one.

We provide events, programmes, activities and organise opportunities within the Wakatipu area to engage youth. Extra curricular workshops are our youth driven programmes that we run to provide opportunities for young people in areas that they show an interest but need help in accessing.

We need funds to provide resourcing, materials, some food costs and expert advice and transport for these programmes. The programmes run on a shoe string and we need funds to improve their scope and to be able to sponsor participants who cannot afford even a minimal cost.

One of our key strategic aims is to set up and effectively run a youth hub for the greater Wakatipu region that encompasses all of our youth based, youth driven activities, events and programmes but with an added arm that sees a variety of youth support services having the ability to operate out of our premises. This expands our resources as a Youth Trust and provides greater connection between young people and their community networks.

We receive no government funding for Youth Work and are reliant upon charitable trusts and donations from the community to pay the rent, wages and all operational costs. The potential benefit from your donation is enormous. It will mean that the programmes can be resourced adequately and promptly. It will allow us to open doors, create opportunities and maximise potential to the utmost.

The Wakatipu Youth Trust is a well-run and highly organised, established charity. We evaluate all of our initiatives and can provide an extensive Annual Report detailing our results.

We are making a real difference in the lives of the young people in our community and we need the help of that community to do what we do.
